1the Case Study of intra-school bullying

The 4th grade student M started his studies at the Greek School in London later than the rest of the children. From the moment he came to the classroom he has not been able to acclimatize to the new environment and his classmates clearly show that they are not at all in the mood to accept him. He is always alone during breaks, and both in the classroom and in the gym class the children refuse to accept him in their group with the excuse that he is not good, he doesn't know how to play and generally bothers them!!!

Even when some of the kids in his class tried to approach him at some point, there were some students who were affecting them negatively. M experiences ridicule and isolation almost daily. He has no friends, but has low self-esteem. Initially, showed physical symptoms (headaches-dizziness-abdominal pains- angina pectoris) and then, refusal to continue school and long periods of 'unexcused' absence from classes.

This specific incident of violence was NOT officially reported to the teacher or the School Administration, not even from the student, nor from his family environment.

6the Case Study of intra-school bullying

Study the story of the teenage victim of cyberbullying.

“A teenage girl who thought about suicide because a group of thugs made her life hell, decided to go public with her story in hopes of helping future victims. Amy Louise Paul from England, participates in a video for an anti-cyberbullying organization that helped Amy through her tough times.

«When I was 13 I had an argument with a friend at school and I thought at the time it was over. The next day, another friend of mine told me that a Facebook page has been set up for everyone who wishes "you were dead already". From what I remember, this page had been posted and sent to too many people, in order to join this group.»

Many people joined the group and left rude comments about Amy. She says the bullying she suffered on Facebook affected her feelings and thoughts.

«Before this happened I was happy, but then I didn't want to talk to anyone, I avoided people, I even cut myself off from my family... I loved school, every morning I woke up excited with the thought of going to see my friends and learn new things. Suddenly, however, the thought of school terrified me. And it wasn't that everything stayed at school, but from a point on all the problems followed me home. I opened the computer, afraid that something bad will be said about me while online. It bothered me so much that I questioned my reasons for living and even considered suicide. What I felt is indescribable, I felt like I had lost everything and I really didn't know what to do. I didn't want to go to school. I didn't want to see anyone. I refuse to eat, even to wake up».

When Amy's mother, Lisa, store manager, discovered the group made for her daughter, became out of brakes, but at the same time she felt powerless to do anything to prevent what might happen.

«The school knew about the group's existence, but he never notified me. Then, I found out that the girl who created the group was not punished. After several meetings with the school administration, I understood that they are not interested in this problem, they didn't take it seriously and I think the main problem was that they didn't understand what a computer was, let alone online bullyingsays Lisa.

«The police visited us approx 24 hours after I reported the incident, but they did not reappear afterwards. People don't understand the magnitude of the problem, in reality, however, they are playing with children's lives».

«Amy's teacher made her classmate delete the group, but all the kids were still talking about it and it made Amy uncomfortable. The real help came from Childline, to which we sent an e-mail».

People who are not involved in technology fail to understand the importance of the issue. Amy advises anyone who is a victim of social media and being bullied, threaten or harass them to notify immediately, or their parents, or their teachers, or an organization like Childline. «You may not understand it now, but it helps to talk to others».

Comment in the discussion area of this page, the emotions that Amy experienced, the change in her behavior, the reactions of her classmates, the actions of her school and her rights that were violated online and extended to the intra- and extra-curricular areas
